Many software can work normally under Windows 95, 98 but not under Windows XP. The compatibility of programmes allows to simulate in software that it is in another operating system so that this one works correctly. This can to apply as well to an application which refuses to launch that in an installation which fails. |
First of all, it is necessary to search the file which allows to throw software in question. This file is, mostly, a practicable file
(.exe).
For example, the notepad of Windows has the name
notepad.exe. It is also possible to use icons on the office which are in fact abbreviated towards the practicable file of application.
Make then a right click on this file and choose 'Properties '.
Go to the thumb-index 'Compatibility '. Check 'Run this programme in mode of compatibility for:' and test with different offered versions of Windows.
If software always refuses to work or if you meet problems, try to change 'display Parametres'. It is possible to get software in 256 colours (instead of 16 or 32 million colours), in a lower resolution...
If problem is not resolved, search information at the editor of software (Internet, technical aid) to know if there is not a
patch or another solution.
If the method described above does not satisfy you, know that Windows offer a helper 'Compatibility of programmes' who accomplishes exactly the same operations but simplifies step.
To throw this helper, go to Starting / All Programmes / Accessories and click on 'Assisting Compatibility of programmes'.
Follow stages pointed out, that is to say choice of the programme which does not work, then the version of Windows, display parametres...
Try various possibilities to try to resolve problem. But the helper 'Compatibility of programmes' can turn out to be ineffectual in certain cases.
