Singularity



History

Inspired by Stargate, Singularity is FPS in whom you represent a soldier who must push back enemies and creatures coming from another dimension. Action sets up in an observatory where scientists study a récémment black hole discovered in another galaxy. However experience takes another turn when a connection seems to be established between the studied galaxy and the Earth. Different vortexes appear to the observatory and in the neighbouring warehouse, allowing whoever to meet instantly on our dear blue planet. You leave immediately with the aid of your team got from trap the invader. A question stays suspends it: will you be as high as the mission which waits for you?



Conception

This game was entirely accomplished by UDUN on the occasion of the competition NVIDIA organised by TheGameCreators (February 16th, 2007). It was encoded in DarkBasic Pro, modelling 3D was performed under 3DSMax 7. For more technical information, appointment in the section Making-Of: Coding and Making-of: Modelling.

This game was conceived over a period of about 8 months among which 5 dedicating in coding and 3 in modelling.

Downloading and installation

Registered shape:
  • Processor: 2Ghz

  • Graphic card: 6600GT (vertex shader 1.1 and pixel shader 2.0)

Pre-requested: DirectX 9.0c (version of February, 2007)

The installation of game requests several files:
  • PhysX Runtime to be installed for the management of the physical engine.
  • Singularity.exe to throw game.





Start a part

Throw the file Singularity.exe to start game. The main menu is displayed:
  • Mission: start the part.
  • Options: change the resolution of game, speed shaders up / deactivate.
  • Credits: author of game
  • Leave: end application.


Main menu


Main orders are the following:
  • Arrows: displacements
  • Ctrl straight: squat
  • Shift straight: jump
  • Left click: pull
  • Right click: following weapon
  • Return: recharge
  • Entrance: action (door, dialect...)
  • Space: next message (debate)
  • Echap: leave game
  • Tab: assistant
  • 1 - 4: arm 1-4
